Click Start > Settings
> Network and Dial-up Connections (or Start > Programs > Accessories
> Communications > Network and Dial-up Connections if it's not present
in the Settings menu, or open Control Panel and after that Network and
Dial-up Connections):
Choose the
first option on the next page as shown on the picture:
You'll be
asked for telephone number and area code. Check Use dialing rules if not
activated:
If you want
the session to be available to all users on the current workstation check
the first option. Otherwise choose the second one. Then you'll have this
session only for your use.
Activate
the connection sharing only if you have a local network and the computer
holding this session is routing that network. Also ask your system administrator
for additional details and support.
After that
choose the apropriate name for the session:
Confirm with
Finish. The session is already done but needs some additional settings.
Enter the
apropriate user name and password. If you don't want to enter the password
every time then activate Save password (for security reasons it's not
recomended!). Click Properties:
Click Configure....
to change modem settings
Choose Networking.
In any case deactivate the NetBEUI protocol. You'll be free from troubles
with some hacker dummies ;-) . Only Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) allowed
here:
If you want
to change line properties click Rules. Select Pulse if you have decided
using of pulse modulation line. Otherwise select Tone:
Now you're
ready to surf the Net! Confirm in all windows with OK and click Dial:
Modem dials
the number and authorizes you:
If everything
is alright a blinking computers icon appears in the lower right corner
near the clock

Note:
Confirm that is checked off the option for logging on to a domain
on the Opions page.
Otherwise
the dial-up dialogue will look like as shown below and you'll be notified
with error logon message:
